School Choice

Vermont Public High School Choice allows any Vermont student in grades 9-12 to apply to attend another Vermont Public High School (they may not attend private schools) through the defined choice process. Each school sets limits for the number of students it allows out and into its system and students must be accepted into the chosen school.

Bradford Elementary and Newbury Elementary School participate in OUUSD's Intradistrict School Choice. Children entering grades K-6 who live in the towns of Bradford and Newbury may exercise school choice. School choice will be limited to the amount of available space in each building. If you are interested in choosing a school other than the one located in your town, you complete and submit the school choice form. Once we receive all the applications, we will assign students. If there is more interest in one particular school than spaces available, we will conduct a lottery. Forms are due by March 15th, prior to the requested school year.

Waits River Valley School provides public education to resident students in grades K-8. WRVS does not have a designated high school for students, therefore, secondary school tuition is submitted to the high school of choice for families after residency verification, utilizing the following form:

Thetford Elementary School provides public education in the school district for Thetford resident students in the K-6 grades. Thetford Academy is the designated school for grades 7-12. A Designation Exception request can be made in accordance with the following policy:
